As We Reflect
Throughout this year in English I noticed that when would write my essays most of them would discuss something that had to do with colleges and how they worked or how it affected students. It would also be talking about the problems colleges had. I found that most of my essays would talk about troubles that occurred with colleges, and athletes who exploit college for the wrong ways.
My first essay that goes with this theme is my first argumentative essay, this talked about students and choosing their own college courses rather than the college choosing for them. This relates into the sporting part of the theme because if a student was able to choose their own courses, if they were an athlete they could make it much easier on themselves. And when colleges choose the courses for them it can make it hard on an athlete and cause many issues.
The next essay that went with my theme is the compare and contrast essay of a big campus and a small campus. It explained the differences and how each had its good and bad. This relates to me because as my senior year went on I looked into colleges of all sizes, the good, the bad, and I had to decide where I was going. This essay related to a real life event for me because I examined different size colleges before choosing where to go.
A third essay that went with my theme is my second argumentative essay of colleges suffering for athletes’ mistake while attending that college. This goes with my theme of problems that colleges had. This however is one of the biggest because students take advantage of universities and they cost the college a lot of money. This fits my theme of my essays talking mostly about college and how it works, and the downfalls it has.
These three essays really talked about colleges in many ways, whether it’d be good, bad, or the different types. It all goes with my life as in one year I will be attending a college to see these things in person.
